What a great expansion to the basic Settlers game.
I absolutely love settlers, and my wife and I play with friends about once or twice a week. We only had the basic game for a long time, but we finally bit the bullet and bought seafarers, and are so glad that we did. Seafarers adds boats (which tend to make sheep more valuable as opposed to practically worthless in the basic game). We love having more variety of games, and play all the scenarios. Buy it, having more things to explore is a great deal of fun.

Catan Seafarers
There are four Catan products that are fundamental for the most flexible gaming experiences - Basic & Seafarers, and the 5-6 player expansions for each. With these four sets, you can play hundreds of different games - well maybe not hundreds but it seems like dozens. We often use the expanded pieces for 4 players. Catan is truly the best game ever.

One of the best board games ever!
We love this game! It requires some thinking capability and some strategy to play this well. It has given us hours of fun and also caused many a good natured argument. I think it's better for teens and adults as children might get frustrated with the level of planning needed in order to do well with choosing locations and mapping out future steps, saving the right resources, etc.
Also have the expansion packs for Seafarers and Knights and that makes for even more complex game play.
Highly recommended for those who enjoy board games that necessitate players using more than luck to win!
