A rather dainty action figure, but part of the cool new Marvel line
Iron Man comes in his classic red and gold armor from his older comic books. He has articulation in his ankles, knees, hip joints, wrists, elbows, shoulders, waist, and head. The figure is rather small (3-3/4" scale, fits in the palm of your hand) and seems delicate. It might take a while to get Iron Man to stand up, balanced on his tiny feet. And then if you breathe you might blow him over again.

But the figure can be posed in some cool ways and has a kind of metallic paint job. And Iron Man's look comes right from the comic books. It's part of Hasbro's new line of Marvel Comics action figures, which I think is exciting.

It looks like Hasbro is releasing Marvel Universe action figures at the same time Mattel is releasing DC Universe: Infinite Heroes action figures. Each line releases 3-3/4" scale figures of superheroes designed straight from the comic books, rather than from a recent movie or stylized cartoon series. I think it's cool because all of your favorite superheroes are being released together, so you can collect an all-star group of heroes that are all the same size and same quality. And you get the classic costumes; no gimmicky "tiger stripe" or "arctic radar" or "laser strike" versions. It's back to the basics.

Another thing that's cool is the standardized 3-3/4" size. Figures used to vary in size depending on what line they came from. Marvel Legends figures were 6" while Spider-Man 3 figures were 3-3/4", Iron Man figures were 5", Justice League figures were 4", The Dark Knight figures were 5", etc. With these new figures from both Marvel and DC, the whole pantheon of heroes is available at the 3-3/4" scale. This is the same scale as the popular Star Wars action figures, so you could mix Marvel, DC, and Star Wars toys together and have some exciting new adventures.

The action figures may be small, but they are more kid-friendly. The larger figures have often been geared toward collectors, with the intricate detail and multitude of moving parts. These smaller figures are simpler and are built for fun.

The Marvel figures are more posable, while the DC figures are more durable (made from a different plastic, less moving parts). Neither really come with significant accessories or potential choking hazards.
